Dj: Good morning professor!
Pr: good morning djinni!
Dj: what are you doing today?
Pr: today we are going to help the salmon.
Dj: what are salmon professor?
Pr: salmon are the keepers of the great rivers. They were born in these
rivers hundreds of thousands of years ago, and after they hatch they
swim to the ocean where they hunt shrimp for a couple years, turning
their meat bright red. Then they return to the river they were born,
jump high over rocks upstream to return to where they were born.
Dj: how are the salmon doing professor?
Pr: they are dying. Their children are dying. The rivers for their
babies are being destroyed, and the oceans where they grow big and
strong are being destroyed.
Dj: who is doing this professor?
Pr: we are eating too many of their parents. We are breeding large
numbers of sea lice by farming atlantic salmon. We are using too many
chemicals that are going into the ocean. We are burning too much
gasoline and making the temperature increase.
Dj: what do you wish for professor?
Pr: I wish the salmon were healthy. I wish we ate less salmon.
Dj: then what could you eat?
Pr: I wish we ate 1 or fewer wild salmon per year each, and ate more
yummy organically grown locally produced vegetable protein.
I wish we didn't breed sea lice by fish farming - but we do - so I wish
we didn't farm fish.
I wish the companies which are polluting the ocean and rivers would
start cleaning up. I wish the owners drink the water from their
factories.
I wish the companies which are polluting the air and the ozone would
start cleaning. I wish the owners breathe the air from their factories.
Dj: I have made your dreams come true. In the future the salmon are
healthy. In the future people eat less salmon.
People eat 1 or fewer wild salmon per year each, and eat more yummy
organically grown locally produced vegetable protein.
People don't breed sea lice by fish farming.
The companies which are polluting the ocean and rivers have cleaned up.
The owners drink the water from their factories.
The companies which are polluting the air and the ozone have cleaned up.
The owners breathe the air from their factories.
