If you are interested, and have the time to finish a story for next week
publication - how much for a 500-1500 story for Performance PC Magazine,
with all rights assigned, an episode of the following short stories
series:

Empreor Doodlewood Bump's Adventures
Civilisation Collapse Eschatology

Prologue

The secret diaries of Noodlehead, the 23rd illuminated and venerable
master of the arts of the instant noodle - Improv Noodle Cook Master,
Order of the Handlemakers, Rainer of the CogAgni, Utter of RandomAntras,
Troubleshooter of Networks, Director of the Center for Healing Human
Cognitive Development Inspiration Improvisational Imaginary, and
Troubadour of the Eschatalogical Collapse of Civilisation.

These writings chronicle my efforts and a few modest successes in
keeping the world as we know it in place and chaos at bay.

If you are reading this, then you must have passed many tests and
endured many longs years of hard study at the many various and ancient
academies, and are no doubt in the old and dusty library of the Center.
(Of course you are there, where ever you are, broadcasting, and
mechnically and electromagnetically replicating yourselves as near the
speed of light as possible.)

I have spent my life troubleshooting in wake of the 7 year old Emperor
Doodlewood Bump and the holographic projections of super powerful yet
flawed artificial intelligences (that you would likely think of as some
form of space ship) from our distant future, that have been upgrading as
fast as they can.

The following volumes, contain what little I can remember of these
events, where in the whole, I was no more and no less than the 3rd good
fairy in Sleeping Beauty, that couldn't undo the curse of death, merely
mitigates it effects.

Adventure #1
One Saturday afternoon, at the Center, Emperor Bump was sitting at the
table reading the paper after doing his Grade 1 math homework, and he
was struck with the fact that women earned less than men. He went to
pour himself a glass of milk and asked the two AIs Djawawa and Asira
"Why is it so?"

The robots went into a collage level discussion of the issue and the
Emperor of the Known Worlds nods his small black head.

"Djawawa and Asira - I have it! I know the root of all evil!" Emperor
Bump says.

The AIs materialize and morph rapidly through a series of shapes until
settling of the brownies from the movie Willow.

They talk more in less in unison, but occassionaly argue and interupt
each other.

"Emperor Bump - but we promised Noodlehead not to change history
anymore," explain the accented 6" high buckskin clad hunter gatheres.

Emperor Bump nods his head, and folds his seven year arms behind his
back.

"Yes I see. We mustn't forget about that. So what can we do about the
inequality of pay between men and women?"

The brownies squirmed. "I know," said one, "we could get rid of all the
money!"
"No silly that wouldn't work, they'd just go back to using rocks
again!"
"We could make them all women."
"Hey - good - we'd talked about that..."

"Silly robots the problems are segregated bathrooms. As long as men and
women think of themselves as seperate inequalities will appear."

The AIs turn and look at each other, and yell "and that spells fun!"

As they begin to turn into tornadoes like hyper active version the
tasmanian devil - Bump shouts over the increasing din - "Don't do
anything else!"

Collapse - 7 generation toxins, environment - our parents haven't been
able to kill us in over 2.8 mya, what's make you think they can kill us
now? Its each other we have to watch for. Our brothers and sisters have
always been responsible for the lions share of our deaths. Its the
toxins we have ourselves. We are intrinsically toxic. We have made
dictators and suicide bombes. We have made agent orange and chernobyl.
We have trans fats.

Civilisation - future police - we are always on the battlements scanning
for the barbarians - the pirates - the cancers - looking for their
quarter to attack and bring us down and back. We must be allowed to
continue to flower. We are only 7500 hundred years old. We need more
time. We must spin to see ourselves whole. And so collect the co2 out
the atmosphere and shape it into containers and shoot it out the earth
from an aimable platform. Deposit containers on the moon, on mars, on
mercury, in order to impart momentum. And so the earth spins enough so
that is in eternal sunshine. Good things grown where good things grow.

Eschatology - the study of extinction. The night doesn't lost forever.
Nor does the day. Why did the civilisation on Rapa Nui collapse? What
happened to the ancient fertile crescent city of Ur? What led to the
fall of Rome? Or Constantinople? Or Athens?

But its attempts to occupy the iraq militaries mainframe and us energy
mainframe and satellites are under attack
So the robot contacts a poor old military official and refinery owner
And makes him send his beautiful daughter to vancouver with the hidden
chip that spins straw into oil
But she meets the player making videos
The 4 families send their legions after the robot, which has control
over them
So to protect itself it causes
But their global warming plan is being thwarted
But their toxic poison plan is being thwarted

But the daughter has the chip in a hidden place in no one can find
Then in vancouver the legions see a video she made
There is a fantastic chase
Then the witches comes
One of their kind is gathering power
To light up
The sky

3 Dreams

Hunting

I am with, I am a, stone age hunters.
There is a hunter not from our clan who is attacking us. He attacks
without concern for his safety and strikes vicious blows against us. His
stone daggers are sharp and I am cut badly.
Pushed to the edge, our clan is unanimous [sic] in agreeing to defeat
him.
It is night when he attacks us next. He strikes and slashes one of the
hunters, and we are all after him. We circle around him, and we give to
him what he has given us.
"We spare your life, though you have not spared us. Here is food."
And he is happy to die.

Orca

Our clan is small. But not small enouigh for the food we can find. We
know of great clan that we will raid.

We are chased out and narrowly avoid being killed by spears, by jumping
in to the sea off a cliff.

In the sea an orca and I find each other. The orca carries me on its
back and races through the water. It is exhilirating.

Computer store

A couple months before christmas, in china town, my wife and I rent a
small (10" x 10") store front shop, and renovate it to look kind of like
a jewellery store. We use lots of varnished light coloured wood, and
strip lighting with spots.

We negotiate a deal on getting the leasehold improvements for free by
paying 6 months rent in advance.

We fill the story with expensive high quality computers and gadgets, and
well dressed chinese salesmen to sell them, and the store is packed.

Why won't the strategies that kept us alive for 2.8 million years keep

Global warming we have survived before, and ice ages too.

So why are the thing we do today killing and poisoning our children in
ways that killing and poisoning our children in the past aren't the
same?

Exposure to toxins that never existed before.
There was lead before. And there was mercury.
But now we more in scale, in kind, and in scope.
We have co2 in atmosphere, hole in ozone, pcbs, ddt, napthalates, and
radioactivity.

Our evolution hasn't prepared us or the plants, fungi and animals we
depend to cope with that.

So I know my name is not Joshua, but Thomas, or Judas, or am I Paul
after all.

When I read Jesus saying not to worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow
will look after itself, the toxically or radioactively mutated make
me doubt it. But who am I not to have faith. Are we not already the
result of cataclysmic events?

And I also have been confused about Matthew 25-26, and what I thought
meant that God provides for us, which made me concerned about the many
mass extinctions in the earths past. How were the dinosaurs provided
for, aren't they as valuable as sparrows? But the message is different.
The message is worry won't add an hour to your life.

After so long its hard to move on from this story.

But without falsifiable proof what is a human to think?

Its an ineffable creator that gives humankind faculties that can't
locate God's existence.

All our senses are blind to God?
