newtons first law of thermodynamics.

Of course over a generation or 10, it may look like the money lender is
never going to come and collect on our debt, but how can that be? The
interest and principal must be paid, but the debt is just getting
compounded, making bankruptcy all the more inevitable.

Gas companies profit from extracting gasoline, however they need to take
back the CO2 that results from burning the gas.

Agricultural companies profit from extracting nutrients from the soil,
however they need to take back the plant waste the results from
mechanical and biological food processing.
